CEREC RestorationsOur doctors produce CEREC restorations, precision-milled ceramic fillings or crowns, using an extraordinary specialized on-site piece of equipment known as a CERECmachine, which belongs to our practice. Often the restoration is made at the time of your appointment so there is no need for a return visit. These restorations are known as "inlays" or "onlays" because they are a single piece, produced to such exacting specifications that they are able to be fit precisely into the matching opening created in your tooth, rather than being pressed into a drilled hole like traditional filling material. This allows our doctors to preserve more of your healthy tooth structure instead of having to drill it away to make room for a lot of filling material. The CEREC restoration is bonded into place with special adhesives and is exceptional in its ability to hold damaged parts of a tooth together. Your CEREC restoration, or ceramic inlay/onlay, is highly durable and a great deal stronger than regular filling materials. Our doctors often choose them for use in the back teeth which do the job of grinding food and have to bear tremendous pressure while you are chewing. The ceramic inlay material produced by the CEREC will match your tooth enamel to blend perfectly with the overall appearance of your tooth. Our doctors are also able to produce full crowns for your teeth through the use of CEREC technology.
