Tooth-Colored Fillings

In the current age of advanced cosmetic dentistry, it is no longer necessary to endure the use of unsightly metal fillings. Our doctors are specialists in the placement of fully aesthetic tooth-colored fillings which blend so perfectly with natural dentition that no one will ever know you have a filling unless you tell them!

We have two methods of providing tooth-colored fillings to our patients:

One is by means of dental bonding which uses a tooth-colored composite resin material. Please learn about this procedure by referring to the previous section on Dental Bonding.

The other method is through the use of precision-milled ceramic fillings produced by a specialized on-site piece of equipment known as a CEREC machine, which belongs to our practice.

The restorations produced by this extraordinary machine are known as an "inlay" or "onlay" because they are a single piece, produced to such exacting specifications that they are able to be fit precisely into the matching opening created in your tooth, rather than being pressed into a drilled hole like traditional filling material.

The CEREC restoration is bonded into place with special adhesives and is outstanding in its ability to hold damaged parts of a tooth together.

Ceramic inlays are very durable and much stronger than regular filling materials and our doctors often choose them for use in the back teeth which do the job of grinding food and must be able to bear tremendous pressure when you are chewing. The ceramic inlay material produced by the CEREC will match your tooth enamel to blend perfectly with the overall appearance of your tooth.

If necessary, our doctors are also able to produce full crowns for your teeth through the use of CEREC technology.
